Mr Karim DickieKarim Dickie studied at Victoria University of Wellington and Massey University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

From 2016 to 2017 he served as the Executive Secretary and Protocol Assistant to the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (East Timor) to New Zealand. Other assignments include work on the Children’s Action Plan, a cross-government agency initiative hosted at the Ministry of Social Development, and for the Ministry of Health in the Office of the Psychoactive Substances Regulatory Authority. He is currently attached to a media organisation.

Mr Dickie is the Executive Director of the Caribbean Council (NZ), an organisation launched in April 2016 aimed at promoting diplomatic, cultural and economic links between New Zealand and countries of the Caribbean. He is a Board Member of Commonwealth Youth New Zealand, a Member of the National Executive of the United Nations Association of New Zealand and a Committee Member of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs Wellington Branch. Foreign policy areas of interest include North and South East Asia, the Americas, the Middle East, North Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

From 2012 to 2013 he was a parliamentary intern for Mr Raymond Huo, MP. He has stood twice as a candidate for Lower Hutt in local government elections, standing in the Central Ward in 2013 and the Western Ward in 2016.

He has been interviewed by The Washington Post, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Radio Free Asia, the Chinese Herald, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), 3 News and Newstalk ZB; and consultated with Seven Sharp (TVNZ), 60 Minutes (TV3), SBS Australia, SBS Dateline, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), American Broadcasting Company (ABC), O Estado de S. Paulo (Brazil), Riz Khan (Al Jazeera), New Zealand Chinese Press and other media outlets.

He lives in the Wellington region of New Zealand.
